The Waverley
The world's last sea-going paddle steamer powered past while I was chatting with other visitors at Bowling. Everything stopped as all eyes turned to this iconic ship steaming back to her berth at Pacific Quay, Glasgow, with what looked like a full complement of passengers. Waverley’s summer cruises on the Clyde this year mark her Ruby Anniversary (40 years) in preservation.
This shot shows her heading for the Erskine Bridge. The extra shots capture her broadside as she passed opposite and the other as she swings round to go under the bridge. The Titan Crane at Clydebank can be seen in the distance. What a perfect day the passengers had for their trip 'doon the watter' to Dunoon and Rothesay.
