Harvest technology

When I think that the first haymaking I was involved in used rakes and forks to get the hay  to the shed, me standing on the trailer trampling down the hay in midge-infested evening light in hill-country Wales ....

This behometh was collecting up giant straw bales. The trailer picks them up, stacks them, and places them on the trailer. The driver was really going at it racing around the huge field lining up the picker-upper with the next bale.

I wrote about my ambivalence to the march of agri-technology on my website here. But I was stunned by this new machinery.

A couple of extras of big Kent harvest skies and fields that bely the march of the machine.

John is coming home tomorrow for a try-out. Fingers crossed.
