The 'Hope Show

The highlight of the agricultural year is the show.  This year there was a worry that it might not take place because of the awful weather turning the show park to mud, but a drier field was found and it went ahead as usual.  Shows in some islands and parishes have been cancelled, and the horticultural show in Kirkwall has been cancelled as there is not enough produce ready, with it being such a late and poor spring.

Our industrial and horticultural show is always held in the school hall and it did go ahead!  There was a terrific display of fruit and veg and lots of wonderful baking too - mouthwatering cakes and pies! 

With a lot of help from Mike, I entered some produce from our garden and we were lucky enough to win some prizes - see the extra photo!
