Alkborough...

I've had a lovely day out today at Alkborough Flats & Blacktoft Sands....We were very lucky this morning as we saw around 12 juv bearded tits almost as soon as we'd got out of the car! One of them is one of my extras today....gorgeous! We'd never been to Alkborough before but it's lovely. Big skies, water, birds, deer, butterflies and so on.....also 5 spoonbills, 4 of which are in this pic. It was great to watch them help each other preen, very sweet! Or, as someone said in the hide, if you have a beak that size you need help with preening...We also saw a kingfisher zooming around the water. Oh, nearly forgot, another extra is a very obliging singing linnet. Normally they scarper from the camera lens at the first opportunity, this one didn't :)

Next onto Blacktoft Sands hoping to see the great white egret and the Montague harriers, which we did :)
