Blazing a trail/Usain who?

Operation Playing With Fire came to a head today as we managed (just about) to bundle ourselves on to a train down to Berwick-upon-Tweed to see Scobes carrying the Olympic flame through the town centre.

Absolutely cracking (team bonding, in case management see this) afternoon out, great to get in the spirit and cheer him on. Berwick did itself proud (with a little help from the weather) as folk turned out in their masses and got a fantastic atmosphere going for the event.

Most surprising of all was that he seemed genuinely shocked to see us all there - we were certain that loose lips had sunk our ship and that he'd known all along that we were going to be there. I guess the most telling was the look on his face when he realised there was a massive empty bank of desks in the office where his team should have been, with phones ringing off the hook, emails going unanswered etc etc. Ahem, best leave that there I think.

Drinks with the torch (and very proud torch-bearer parents, partner and offspring) afterwards at the Barrels Ale House was a definite winner - 10 points for folk who completed the rece last week. Followed by a swift nip to the chippy for some scran to go with the carryout on the last train home. Time for a quick sing-song too, mainly scout themed so the leader and scout in our midst were very much steering us there.

Don't forget to go large.

Epilogue
Can't wait for that early conf call tomorrow, at least we've got a coffee meeting scheduled for after...see you at 11 Macca.
