A lot of busy rocks

Came past Stonehenge today on the way from Hampton down to Devon. There were huge numbers of people about, many more than this picture shows. There's talk of putting the main road through a tunnel to preserve the feeling of this wonderful ancient monument in the wide open spaces of Salisbury Plain. I hope that the cash is found to do it, as has already been done at the Devil's Punchbowl in Surrey.

Visitors are no longer allowed to touch the stones - when I visited as a kid we could clamber over them and get up to all sorts of fun!
