La Loire à vélo
A day of firsts.
I didn't get lost or distracted by sunflower fields on my morning run.
Olivia went to the onsite shop on her own for the first time ever! Wobbly Mummy moment. Is she too young? Am I too controlling? What if something happens? I'll never forgive myself or hubby or anyone if anything goes wrong. Olivia convinced me to let her try. She was given some money to buy two baguettes. I waited nervously outside our holiday home for her return. When she saw me she was grinning from ear to ear and she was so pleased with herself! However she only had one baguette and a packet of sweets for her and Dexter! She forgot about the second baguette and when she was waiting in the line it was next to all the sweets so she claimed she just had to buy her and Dex a packet of fruit mentos to share! We had to laugh!
After breakfast we set off in the car to bag our second chateau of the holiday.
Azay-Le-Rideau was in a gorgeous little town but disappointingly the chateau is undergoing major restoration work. The price was reduced for adults and the kids were free so we decided to go in anyway. It was lovely and you could see quite a bit of it so it wasn't too bad.
From here we got in the car and drove to a little town in the Loire and parked the car. We then cycled to the next chateau on our list which was Chateau d'Usse. We didn't go into this one but you could see enough from the road where we stopped to have a picnic. The kids were amazing and they cycled the 16km easily, although Dex did complain of a sore bum at one point!
It was an uber hot day so when we got back to the parc we all headed to the lake for a swim. Myself and Olivia swam to the platform in the middle of the lake which was great as the water was lovely and then we had a swim in the indoor pool just for good measure!
I think we'll all sleep well tonight!
