A little Rant.

Your pharmacist also dispenses useful advice".

Or he would of he was there.

Like many friends who have reached a "good age" (what a curious phrase that is) Knottman has some repeat prescriptions. Getting a further supply should be easy. From our computer we can order a repeat and when the doctor has typed OK it goes electronically to the Pharmacy in the village. Thus in two or three days you can call in and collect more of the magic pills.

In the past week Knottman has had two to collect, one for himself and one for Mrs. K.

Four times have I been in the Chemists and although I can see our medicines behind the counter all wrapped up and labelled, i am told by the assistant ( for whom one feels much sympathy) that she cannot give them to you because there is no Pharmacist on the premises.

Yet when he is there 98% of such transactions take place without his knowledge or intervention. The assistant simply asks you to confirm your address and hands over the package.

When I finally found a time when he was present and took him to task for the quality of his customer service I was told that it was company policy because he might want a word with the patient. Not difficult to just mark the packets where he does want such a word I would have thought.

Where is he? In the next village where the pharmacist is on holiday and where the shop is a little busier than our even though we have a steady stream of people being turned away.

The final straw was this morning when having been refused Mrs.K's eyedrops i tried to buy a packet of 16 Disprins.

Oh, I can't sell those to you as there isno pharmacist on the premises.

Bah, humbug. End of Rant.
