Caroline and Rob's wedding
A group of us met for brunch at a cafe in town, then we went back to our hotels to get changed in to our wedding gear. We didn't have to be at the venue until 3pm so we had enough time for a quick beer beforehand.
The wedding ceremony and reception party were both held at the Merchant Adventurers' Hall in York. It's a really impressive medieval guildhall and is usually open as a museum. There were around 70 guests, mostly family and the ceremony was lovely. We moved downstairs for drinks before returning upstairs where the tables had been set up for the wedding breakfast. The food was impressive in quantity and quality (as was the wine). My table had some lovely people on it and we had to join together for a quiz.
The speeches were great fun and the groom was even made to put on a Yoda mask by his brother and best man. We moved back downstairs after we'd finished all the food and wine. Then the dancing started! There was a live band and everyone was having a great time. The after party continued back at the hotel where the bride and groom were staying and we all went to bed suitably drunk.
I'm so glad I got the chance to see Caroline get married!
