Swallows and Amazons

I visited the lovely village of Heptonstall, near Hebden Bridge today, expecting to have a peaceful stroll. I found that the village had been taken over for a couple of days to film scenes for a forthcoming movie of "Swallows and Amazons." Having read the book avidly as a child, I don't recall any of its action looking quite like what I saw today or taking place in Yorkshire.  Cinematic licence I guess.  But it made for an interesting couple of hours.

I also visited the grave of poet Sylvia Plath, the octagonal Methodist Chapel (designed that way so the devil had no corners in which to hide) and encountered a demonstration against a development near the village.
