Occasional heavy showers...

Today's weather forecast suggested that there might be some showers, but that this morning would be dry.  As a result I was out of bed early (well, early for a Saturday), and off on the bike before Cathy was up.  With the Pyrenees just a month away I needed to get some dedicated  climbing practice in.  Fortunately this part of the world is not short on suitable hills.  Actually, I probably need to rephrase that.  This part of the world has plenty of short hills, which you can repeatedly climb.  Generally speaking they are over and done with after 150m to 200m of vertical climbing.  Unfortunately that makes each climb about 1/10th of a climb in the Pyrenees.  So my 5 hour ride today featured an awful lot of going up, coming down, and then going back up.  Still, with a month to go I'm reasonably happy with where I am (I can see myself regretting that statement in a month's time).

Cathy and I popped into Bath to get some shopping this afternoon, after double checking the weather forecast.  Apparently we could expect occasional heavy showers.  Needless to say, it absolutely tipped it down.    I had taken my camera but was so worried about keeping it dry that I didn't manage to get any shots of people running for cover.  I so regret that now.  Today's shot is a picture of Pultney Bridge in Bath.  You often see this bridge in shots of Bath, but never from this angle.  The back of the bridge has none of the glamorous architecture, but is perhaps more entertaining as a result.  I shall leave you to judge.   There is a lot of detail here, if you wish to look at it in large.
