Lou's Birthday
So it was Lou's birthday on the 5th and to celebrate we decided to do a snorkelling tour, which Caye Caulker is famous for. We'd heard great things about a 'E-Z Boy Tours' trips, and I was completely sold when I met their person in charge of bookings, a rasta called Richard.
We left first thing in the morning meeting the two man crew and the other tourists before we set sail. There was Chris and Faaria, an awesome Canadian couple, Johanna, a lovely and hilarious German girl, and three great older Americans. We were on one of the only sail boats in Caye Caulker which really added to the trip and our crew of, 'The Captain' who expertly sailed the boat and 'Amada' our snorkelling guide / cocktail maker, were superb.
It was such a good day which consisted of three snorkelling sites where we saw turtles, dozens of nurse sharks, barracudas, and lots of sting rays and spotted eagle rays. Every time we got back on the boat there'd be fresh fruit waiting for us and a choice of a fruit punch and rum cocktail or a cuba libre. We also had an incredible shrimp ceviche.
Following our final snorkel and throughout the sail back we made a valiant attempt to get through the rum and punch supply. Honestly, things get a little foggy from that point on but when we got back to the island we all sat on the pier and continued the drinking. The next day Lou said she'd had a great birthday, so that's good enough for me!
