Today has been spent hacking back bracken and getting hair restored to its natural glory by the mobile hairdresser.

Just a brief respite in the hecticness that has been July for tomorrow we are off to the marquee for the Ahakista Festival Quiz Night, hosted by the irrepressible Mr Graham Norton. It will be riotous. We'd better swot up on Irish saints, GAA(Gaelic Athletic Association), and dodgy politics. No, he doesn't set the questions, more's the pity. The theme of the festival is Hawaiian. The forecast is atrocious.

It's also son#1's birthday. He's somewhere in darkest East Anglia photographing a wedding. A unicorn is rumoured to be appearing. See the extra for the as he was and as he is. Cherub.
