Express Yourself

Is there anything in the world more embarrassing for a woman than having her breast tethered to an electric hand pump? Probably. But its up there on the cringe list, let me tell you.

Started expressing today. Being a human feeding machine twenty-four seven isn't working for us. Zero sleep (as when madam wakes every 1-2 hours, I have to attend as my husband doesn't have the same errr...equipment), sore nipples (sorry boys) and the fact that we have my sister's wedding to go to on Saturday and need a way to feed on the move have all resulted in a decision to introduce The Bottle.

Am feeling very guilty about it and had a long cry on the phone to my Mum before we took the decision. Somehow feel I am failing my baby by not providing twenty four hour 'free buffet' access to The Nipple. But I have to admit, as soon as the decision was made, I just felt utter relief.

A happy Mummy is a happy baby and all that. And do you know what? During the night she's been like a different person! Less cranky and easier to settle so maybe she was picking up on my stress too. Nipple with a side helping of anxiety every feed or something.

Right had better go and plug myself in. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........
