Waxeye Gang

Rain. A relief in a way. I did my chores in the morning then took the afternoon off and read a book. Trouble is I forgot to take some photos. This one is all I have. The light was very poor, and I took it by inching the camera out beyond the curtain and snapping it blind. I was surprised to get seven waxeyes in the one frame. As soon as I showed myself to get a better shot they were gone.

This was the first time I’ve seen the flock of 8 or 10 waxeyes at the veranda feeder. They come to the sugar water dispenser on the plum tree once a day. There’s another group of four, at least two pairs, and a single male.
