Wet morning.
River Aire 13.
Setting off on a wet morning the plan was to stay in sheltered areas and woodland as much as possible. It wasn't raining that much and we were all so warm in our waterproofs that they were soon abandoned.
We took some routes I haven't followed for a while so after descending from Cottingley Woods and crossing Beckfoot golf course we came to Beckfoot Bridge and ford ( not to be recommended we have seen vehicles stuck here). The water is Harden Beck which feeds down to the River Aire in Bingley just beyond here, hence the name 'beckfoot'.
It is an old pack horse bridge and is always worthy of a photograph.
We didn't cross the bridge but skirted the River Aire above Myrtle Park where they were still taking down the marquees from Saturday's Agricultural show, not much fun after all the rain over night.
A pleasant walk despite the not too promising weather. Unfortunately I missed a capture of 4 Jays on the lawn this morning which I saw from upstairs but Wilsden Walker spotted a young Robin as we left St Ives. No red breast yet and it didn't seem too sure whether or not to be wary of us.
I managed a walk up the village and back to the beauticians without a coat later but the rain is back with avengeance now!
