Dubai Souk

On our last day before flying home we visited Dubai's famous Gold Souk. The area was mainly filled with jewellery shops with a few touristy clothes shops thrown in for good measure. I was quite disappointed because I had expected a few authentic Arabic restaurants with locals selling kebab meat from little hatches in the walls. Instead it was very modern and Dubai in general seemed quite westernised and a bit false. There was not shortage of western branded restaurants but there was nowhere to buy authentic local food. I am glad we have been and that we have experienced it but I don't feel the need to go back there.
