A feast for the eyes!
Saturday.
We left our friends after a wonderful happy few days. Too much to eat and drink, and laughter to make my sides ache! Wonderful!! Good job we don't meet up every week!
On the way the way home we called at the market town of Helmsley.
I don't think I have ever been anywhere where the flowers have looked so wonderful!
Here they are outside a book shop.
Not sure if this town is entered in the Britain in Bloom competition, but surely it should win hands down.
We also visited the Walled Garden.
Built in 1759. five acres sit beneath the imposing ruins of Helmsley Castle.
Abandoned and derelict, the restoration started in 1994.
Now looked after by a dedicated staff and volunteers.
Looking beautiful today, although some parts were a little unkempt, and needed a lot of weeding, and the elderly gentleman taking the entrance money ( £6 thought a bit expensive) was also looking after the shop.
I think they need more staff, or volunteers.
However it was a beautiful peaceful place, with wonderful perfumes, and colour.
See extra photos.
Sunday is our annual BBQ for the walking club.
It's all go at the moment!
Hope you are enjoying the weekend too.
Hope it stays fine!
