Thank you for saving my life today!

This lizard popped into the pool and was easily fished out. BUT, can anyone tell me what it is, bearing in mind I am in the south of France. I have looked it up on French lizard records but it only resembles a slow worm but this one has feet. Is there a time in a slow worm's life when it has short legs? It was about 8" long and very slimBetter larger - if you dare!
