A first!

There are herons on the island in the centre of the Heritage Park loch but they have kept well out of the range of my camera ..... until today that is. On my walk round the loch this afternoon I joined up with another photographer and together we were looking for damsel flies. We chatted about the geese and the swans, the lack of small birds and then as we reached the near end of the loch there was this young heron just standing at the water's edge looking for a tasty morsel. My companion eventually moved on but I stayed, hoping for that special shot.
