Inverness..
..up early to take G to the airport (when did it become Airport rather than aeroport ?). She's off down to her Cath's for her 92 birthday on Tuesday.
Called in at the garden centre and bought a rake head, one of those with the detachable handles. 16" wide, and should prove handy for gathering stones on the veg patch. Delighted.
Then to KF for four new tyres. Also had the brakes looked at as one was binding a bit. Turned out the caliper was seized, I needed new pads and discs, and the bill would be almost 4 figures.. Turned out they managed to free the calipers, so it was only 3/4 of that.. Now booked i for an MoT test next Wednesday when I go down to pick G up again.
So I had some time on my hands while they were doing the work, so took Tanni off to find the entrance to the Caledonean Canal. Walked through busy streets, and eventually found a back road through Merkinch. Came across a lighthouse with view to the Kessock Bridge (extra pic), before walking on to the old ferry crossing at Merkinch. There was then a nice footpath through to the railway, and on to the Canal. There was a stiff breeze in our faces all the time, and when we got there, this ship, the Lady of Avenel, was just coming through. I'd seen her coming into the first lock from the sea as I was approaching, and she was just entering the second lock as I got there. I enjoyed seeing the railway bridge behind the man opening too.. We then walked right down to the sea lock before returning on the opposite side back to this lock.
Did a bit of shopping after, including £270 worth of drinks for the "Wheel of Fortune" for Gala day..
Got back home around 10 after stopping for tea in Ullapool. Collected the eggs, shut the hens up, cooked the animals tea, and put the shopping away. Now relaxing with a beer..!!
