Tanni enjoying the views at Kylesku..
..A good day today. Started off getting G up early for her Yoga class. This meant I got down the croft early too. A big harvest today for the Hotel, but also had to clear some ground (after harvesting some salad), weeks, and salad plants. A hand weeding job.. I then picked 5 or 6 buckets of stones from the patch before going over it with my wheeled hoe. Removing the stone makes hoeing easier. Then in with the seed drill, and sowed 6 rows of mixed salads to replace the ones I'd just removed.
Then on to another patch, and again cleared stones, around 4 or 5 buckets. These stones are fist sized, and block the blades of the hoe, and the hoe bounces over them.. One stone was about the size of a football, and I had to dig it out and roll it away.. Then sowed another 6 rows of salads, and some chinese cabbage.
Cleared a third patch and sowed 5 rows of coriander.
And then into the harvest. G walked down to help. Loads of salads, swiss chard, coriander, pea shoots and some mange tout, and spinach. Then took Tanni on the beach for her run and swim.. Back up to the house and unloaded to weigh up, and down to the middle patch to harvest cabbage, broccoli, kale and kohl rabi. We have lots of heads of broccoli just now, and took 18 heads down. Will have the same for the next harvest too..
Back up to the house and harvest stuff out of the greenhouse, polytunnel, and beds in the back garden. Weigh up, print invoice , and down to the hotel for a rewarding pint. Took this shot there. You may remember seeing Stumpy the deer here a few weeks back, Tanni's turn today..
