Sunset Over The Rooftops

How lucky we are around here that this sort of thing is fairly routine. This is a bit of a restricted view but it's what I can see from the stairs going up to my landlords' deck,  It would have been lovely from the park down by the water but it also would have been gone by the time I got down there even though it's less than a half mile away.

Speaking of landlords, they informed me this evening that the plumbing problem which causes large puddles on the basement floor when the washing machine is used will require access to the pipes that are apparently (they're not really sure where they are) directly under my living room.  I've mentioned before that my little basement apartment is maybe 500 square feet total.  Now they tell me that they will have to take up the carpet, jackhammer through the cement floor, rip out and replace the pipes they believe are there and put it all back together again.  Lizzie and I will have to move out for a couple of weeks, although I don't understand why it would take that long.  Construction workers  built a bridge over a local road in less time than that.  All of my stuff would have to move out as well and while that isn't much really, I do have a lot of books, as well as my desk and computer, a few pieces of furniture, etc.   Anyway, I can probably camp out at my daughter's apartment, but Lizzie is another problem altogether. My daughter has three cats who barely tolerate each other so the likelihood of them welcoming Lizzie into their space is slim. Lizzie also has specialized medical needs which means she has to have insulin shots twice a day and to board her would be costly.  Not sure how we're going to deal with this situation.  The upside of it is that I would end up with new carpeting which would be very nice and hopefully there would be no more puddles on the floor.  I suppose it could be worse but at the moment I can't think how.
