Tatami Beetle

After being married for coming up on 9 years I am getting better at picking up on the subtle signals that this woman I live with puts out.

"Aaaaaaaaarrghhhh, aaarrrggh"
"Oh cool a beetle"
"Aaaaarrgh, stop looking at it, just get it out before it takes off flying"

She had very kindly brought a subject in along with the washing from outside for me to photograph.  You can see why she was so excited, he's a beaut!

Not sure what kind of beetle but I photographed him/her on the Tatami mat.  So, Tatami Beetle it is.  Latin name, Shinius Muchius.  Not as big as the Rhino beetles in the tank but very cool I'm sure you'll agree.
