Building

5years 270days

We travelled to Kettering today with Grandad and Granny. The journey went well, Katie slept for some of it. She then had an amazing time with her Great Grandad, my Uncle Darren, my cousins and her Grandad all building a proper oldschool tent. Garden canes, bungees, hammer, ropes, mini hand saws and of course a tarpaulin were all employed. It ended up as quite a creation! They had a wonderful time. As we had sat down for lunch, the doorbell rang. I told Katie she should go - waiting at the door was my brother, her Uncle Simon. She gave him The Biggest cuddle EVER. A really tasty lunch, lots of garden games and a time spotting red kites (the birds!) and old WW2 planes followed. It was a really delightful time.

The trip to Kettering was special in itself. It was though a way to add something fabulous in to the 5.5 hour drive to my cousins in Surrey. We made it to them about 5pm and had another fantastic meal with even more family. Katie has been such a super star the entire day. She coped well with meeting lots of extended family that she's never met before. She kept going until 9pm, when she fell asleep before her sleepy song had even gone through once.
