Barrio Fiesta 2015

A very very early rise for me today at 530am. I had to be at the train station by 7am for a 3.25hr journey to the Barrio Fiesta venue at Hampton Court.

All connections were on time and I luckily got in the nick of time to catch the trains.

I met up with Wilson, Kate, and Danica at Hampton Court and we took the free shuttle to the venue together. We were one of the early birds in the venue. The field was almost entirely empty except for the people in front of the stage who were listening to some singers and dancers trying to entertain a handful of people. Last year at the same time, there were more people. This may not be a statistically valid conclusion, but could it be because the guests this year are less popular than the Pokwang and KathNiel duo last year?

We were later joined in by Christian, Anna and Abby. We got optimal with our 5gbp and chose the 4-in-one ulam package for lunch. We had lechon paksiw, morcon, dinuguan and bbq with rice.

Highlight of the trip was probably people learning how to play (or relearn) pusoy dos and tong-its. The names of these card games are very unique indeed. One wonders what the etymologies of these words are. And the takeaway message while we were playing was that : "If malas ka sa sugal, maswerte ka sa lovelife."
