Chateau d'Adomenil

The first day of our summer holidays with the girls for me (Annie) today. It's always a slightly odd arrangement: as we only get 7 days with my stepdaughters for summer holiday, I prefer to tack on a few days extra either end to make it a holiday I have a chance of unwinding on! Otherwise with a busy, full-on job, by day 6 I'd be just starting to relax... So - for the past few years I've driven to wherever we're going, giving me some "me time" and a fun road trip, and then picked Chris and the girls up from the nearest airport once there. Odd, aren't we?

The trip started early, so I could get to the EuroTunnel - and I made it fine despite Operation Stack closing part of the M20. Today was all about piling the miles on ready for tomorrow, so around 480 miles and 12 hours after setting off (with rest stops), I've made it to my overnight stop near Nancy. The blip is part of the garden of the hotel - just beautiful. Tonight is my "spoiling myself" stop, and the restaurant meal was most definitely not Chris' idea of food - there were amuse bouches and no burger option...

Can't wait to see everyone on Sunday at the airport, but I have a fun day tomorrow to keep me occupied until then. :)
