12 years ago tomorrow we moved into our home and, despite hating it from day one, we've never done anything about the light in the hall.

Mad I know!

But we figured it'd be too complicated (and expensive!) to go about changing given it hangs over the galleried landing bit of the house.

Anyway fast forward 12 years and not only have we found a lovely electrician (or electric ian as my sister's family call them) but I got a bargain in Ikea - £90 shade for only £36 as I had some really old (as in 8 years old) credits on a refund card!

So at 8am this morning (on our day off!) James (our electric ian) and Pete (in the pic) came round to take down the old and fit the new.

Super speedy they were (despite the height!) and they were gone before 9!

And it looks ace!

I'm adding extra photos for the first time - the old light looking very sorry for itself on the lawn (they were so super speedy I didn't get a before!) and then the maahoosive ladder they used to get up there!
