Die 2 Murmeltiere (the 2 Marmots)

What a fabulous day visiting the Pasterze Glacier near Heiligenblut opposite the Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria. The glacier is the largest in the eastern Alps at 8km long but it is receding at the rate of about 10m each year. I loved the texture and colours of the disintegrating ice - indeed we witnessed a couple of cave-ins as large sections crashed down with a bang. The stunning turquoise colour of the ice and the river which flows from the glacier and through the valley is due 'rock flour' caused by the grinding of the rocks beneath the glacier.  
Hubby and his niece in their grey coats reminded us of the Murmeltiere (Marmots) which blend into their surroundings (see extra).
