Gluttony

Considering that no goldfinches ever came near my garden when I had niger seeds, it is quite strange that they are now everywhere.

My friend said that the most popular food on her (excellent) feeders is the sunflower hearts and that they have to buy them in bulk and refill them every day. So I thought I would give it a try.

It's worked.  Not only do they attract goldfinches but there are so many more little sparrows than previously - and even the tits are mastering the art of flying up to the new feeder and fluttering until they land.

I refilled both of the feeders (this is the one that they broke which now survives thanks to superglue). I hardly had time to get inside before they were at it mob handed.

I think this persistent pair have particularly greedy faces.
