Ready for take-off
It was a brilliant night for moths last night, despite the steady drizzle. I caught at least five new species for my garden and there are some micro-moths still to be identified. This was a male White Satin moth revving up to take off after I disturbed it on the outside of the moth trap. It beat its wings for about 5 minutes before it had warmed up enough to take off and find a more suitable hiding place in the garden border.
