Heroic Tunes

She sells sea shells by the sea shore.
The shells she sells are surely seashells.
So if she sells shells on the seashore,
I'm sure she sells seashore shells.
 
Apparently this tongue-twister was inspired by the life Mary Anning – the Dorset fossil hunter and palaeontologist who became known around the world for her important finds along the Dorset coast.  Her discoveries contributed to important changes in scientific thinking about prehistoric life.  She is a bit of a hero of mine. 

Another grey but warm and humid day.  This evening I have been treated to a performance by our local silver band – all from the comfort of my living room – they were playing in the pub garden just down the road.  At the end the audience thanked them with a loud round of applause and where then treated to an encore!  Summer evenings....
