Happy couple

The reason to be in Bordeaux was to celebrate the marriage of PJ and E. PJ was a PhD student of mine, and we've stayed good friends. We stayed with PJ and E when we visited Sheffield back in December 2013. In addition, his Head of School is one of my oldest academic friends, so all the more reason to be there.

Amazing day. Civil ceremony in the Mairie in Bordeaux, where the grooms came in with their mothers. Photographs in the Hotel de Ville park, where the obligatory selfie was taken (see extras). Then we were taken by bus to Fronsac, to a lovely venue with a vineyard setting and the benefits of gorgeous light. The "trimmings" (see extras) were also beautiful, with personalised menu cards. The celebrations went on long into the night, although we took the "first bus" back to Bordeaux at 1am.
