A Sunday Drive . . .
We spent yesterday evening with our son and his fiancée Bridie. We caught up on their wedding planning and met one of the bridesmaids. This morning as we drove away Wellington looked picture perfect. The central North Island has had a heavy dump of snow and today we and every other motorist enjoyed the stunning views and a chance to get out and touch snow. It was fun to see little children throwing snow balls and piling snow on their cars. This stretch of highway is called the desert road and there are three active volcanic peaks to be seen. In the extras you can see Mt Ngauruhoe looking like a classic cone and Mt Tongariro a lower peak but it has steam coming out of it. Safely home with no dramas from the other drivers and another week of holiday to enjoy.
