Better late than never
Last week's visit by the new air ambulance was cancelled due to foggy conditions. The visit was rescheduled for today and we set off to walk up to the local airfield, wondering where the brilliant sunshine of the morning had gone to.
We had not gone far by the time that the rain began. "Just a shower" we said. No no need to return home. The rain became heavier and were were glad to shelter in the lee of East Silverhall when we got that far. Neither of us had a coat and I had nowhere to protect my camera.
We set off again as the rain slowed and the light was improving and by the time that we reached the airfield everything was steaming gently in the sunshine. We even managed to reach the car park before the helicopter came in despite having sheltered from the rain for ten minutes or more.
£8.5m worth of helicopter, as it came off the assembly line, then fitted out as an air ambulance. I hope that I never have to use it but I am very glad that it is there.
Extra pic: shiny, shiny (spot the airfield building)
Extra pic: rusty, rusty (had something of a rust-fest on the way home and took many pics at Hammerbrake)
