Rare Event

One of the headlines on this morning's news was "Snow on Mt Lofty".  This is indeed a rare event in our city, so the idea was to get a snow blip.  Unfortunately everyone else in Adelaide had the same idea and the road leading to the summit was pretty well gridlocked.  Not that there was any snow on the ground anyway.

So the rare event turned into a bit of a non-event.  But by golly it was cold - I reckon a good 3-4 degrees colder than at our place, which is only about 10km down the road.

It did start to snow within 5 minutes of leaving, but too bad.

A very quick trip to the Mt. Lofty Botanic Gardens, where there were many many flowers in bloom. All the winter bulbs and a wonderful display of hellebores.  But the wind was icy and the skies really clouding over, so this was the quickest of quick blip trips.

I think this is a salvia, because it was in the same place as a lot of plants that I knew were salvias, possibly Salvia wagneriana, but possibly not.  The leaves looked like a salvia.

Anyway, the advent of a hail storm made sure we didn't hang around for very long.

As it's still Friday in certain parts of the world, I'll claim this as Flower Friday, but obviously it's Flower Saturday - but what's a day between friends.
