Towards the Wrekin

The Barley and Wheat crops are starting to ripen in the fields by us.  I had a few minutes at lunch time so quickly tried to find a big vista to photograph. On this occasion I attached a polarising filter to the lens to darken the sky and add a bit more depth to the colours.  I always try to take care using a polariser for scenes like this.  It's easy to get a banded effect, particularly with wide angle lenses as you can capture areas of the sky where the polarising effect is beginning to diminish.

Then it was back to work to carry out a staff member's performance development review.  There are times where I wish I could do photography full time!  We again had the cacophony of sound from the blackbirds in the garden this evening.  Fleur, our cat, took it upon herself to sit slap bang in the middle of the lawn to antagonise them.  At one stage we had a show to rival the Red Arrows as the male and female blackbirds swooped above her head from different directions.  Thankfully, Fleur is not quite quick enough to leap and catch (though I hope the birds don't keep giving her the opportunity to perfect her technique!
