National Coal Mining Museum

Today is my Dad's birthday so we took him out for the day, to the fascinating National Coal Mining Museum, near Wakefield. We took a 90 minute trip down the well-preserved and presented mine, guided by a most knowledgable and amusing former miner.  What I hadn't anticipated was that "contraband" items, not allowed to be taken down the pit, include anything with a battery, including cameras. Doh!

Tomorrow is Mum's funeral.
