Brief Encounter

We are staying in Carnforth and took the train from the station immortalized in the film Brief Encounter.
We went on a 10min journey to Arnside where mrToa had the bright Idea of climbing up Arnside Knott a limestone hill 159 mts high it was very hot and we collapsed in a heap at the top but the views were stunning.
It was full of wild flowers and insects , we met a man who had come all the way up from London for the day! to look for rare butterflies.
We were also lucky enough to see the Arnside bore that a
occurs at high tides along the river Kent estuary in Morecambe  Bay it can be up to a metre high. A siren sounds just before it happens we were a long way up looking down on it but it still looked impressive.
