Hoppers

When it stopped raining we went up to the allotment; it took a while for the dark clouds to clear away to the north and the sun to come out. These guys were hanging about on a wild strawberry leaf, waiting for the sun. First time I'd seen any this year, but they were already about 2 cm long. Chorthippus brunneus, probably. Think they nibble the plant leaves, but I find their presence rather cheering.

We put in another long and exhausting stint, again without much visible progress - but I suppose we must have done something.
