From Heraklion to Agios Nikolaos

No Knossos. No Archaeological Museum. (DS wasn't in the best of walking form, which rather cramped our style.) We had a rather strange omelette with okra in a bar/restaurant near out hotel (well, DS had the funny one; Carl's wasn't too bad). We checked out of our hotel and got a taxi for the short trip to the bus station. Our bus for Agios Nikolaos left at 2:15, was an express, and reached our destination within an hour rather the usual 90 minutes.  A super taxi woman took to us to our hotel where an equally super check-in woman made us feel instantly at home. She gave us a choice of (studio) room since a larger one had become available since we'd made the booking. She gave us the keys to both rooms and told us to make up our minds. Unsurprisingly, I suppose, we opted for the larger one.

First impressions from our balcony were that the sea here is very, very blue! After a siesta we headed out to explore our new domain. I've been in AN three times before, but don't remember it being as up and down as it is,  but I'm sure we'll get used to that soon enough.

Carl's online research led us to Gr Deli restaurant beside the marina which was rather wonderful, especially the complimentary pitta bread which began the meal. We found our way back to the hotel along a lovely seafront walk and stopped off in the first bar we found at the end of it for a final midnight drink.
