Home from home.
Last night, we sat in the garden at about 10pm and watched an amazing display of forked and sheet lightening. It went on for ages. We were puzzled by the lack of thunder, but we later discovered that it was over Greater Manchester, over the other side of the Pennines.
A mixed day weatherise today. I got lots of fiddly, little jobs done - catching up on emails, washing, diary updating etc. Before I knew it, it was tea time, and the sky darkened and the rain came in. The forecast said it would brighten up later and I'd thought I might get out, but as it was still raining at 8:30, I gave up on the idea. Of course, did it brightened up very soon after but by then, the impulse had passed. The mushroom I blipped yesterday was growing at the back of the roof of our insect hotel. Someone asked me about it, so it occurred to me that it would make a blip. As I write, a local designer, a pioneer of green roofs, Nigel Dunnett, is being featured on TV at Hampton Court Flower Show. He designed our last garden before he was famous (he also was involved in the landscaping for the 2012 Olympics). It may be tiny and a bit dishevelled but I think he would approve of our green-roofed insect hotel.
