Who Lives in a House Like This?
Lying in bed this morning I could hear the rain. Two sunny days was probably too much to hope for – or was it. I had planned to go for a run, but the weather put me off. I baked instead. Late moring it looked like it was brightening up, so we went off to Tyninghame House gardens which was open through Scotland’s Garden Scheme today. We have never visited before, but you always get a distant view of the house from the beach road. What a magnificent house and what wonderful gardens. BB had a trail to follow, things to find and questions to answer, so that kept him busy. We walked through the woods, round the amazing walled garden, back up by the house to the secret garden the terrace garden, the ruins of St Baldred’s Chapel and then to the tea room for very nice cakes.
We certainly had the best part of the day to view the magnificent gardens. I can’t wait till it’s open again next year.
Sunday evening has been so peaceful without last minute homework to be done. Only one more week of school for BB.
Here is the turreted mansion that is Tyninghame House. The extras are the catmint walkway and the peony border in the walled garden and BB completing his trail in the ruined St Baldred's Chapel
