June's Birthday Party

This afternoon I was invited to an old-fashioned birthday party. There were games of :

~ Pass the Parcel
 
~ Pin the Tail on the Donkey
 
~ Kim's Game

followed by a tea party complete with sangwitches, chocolate crispies, Swiss roll, birthday cake, three different colours of jelly and ice cream, washed down with lashings of ginger beer  tea.

Although it was June's party, she let her friend Jean wear the birthday hat (because it's her birthday on Tuesday) to cut the cake. In her hand she is holding the musical cake-slicer which only plays "For he's a jolly good fellow" these days, but that didn't seem to matter.

I hadn't been to a party like that for about 60 years!

PS Those who won the games went home with a small prize. There were no party bags and no tantrums either. Well, not that I witnessed...

PPS I was the youngest person there!
