Things aint wot they used to be . . . . .
. . . . . . but in this case it still works darn well. I was astonished today, arriving at Ngawi, near Cape Palliser, to see an amazing collection of vintage tractors and bulldozers, many of them well past their use-by date, still being employed, launching boats and pulling them out, of the surf. There were probably in excess of 50, with the vast majority extremely elderly. Some of them had been painted delightfully; purple, pink and blue! You can probably imagine the many images I ended up with! It was definitely a sight for the boys.
It was 254 steps up to the lighthouse at Cape Palliser - I'm not as fit as I used to be, thanks to a few set-backs. I need to get into some training!
There were some dramatic waves rolling in, with the spume being blown back by a roaring nor-wester, with some seals sitting up on the rocks - photos of the latter 2 are in Extras.
Cape Palliser is a promontory on the southern coast of New Zealand's North Island and is the southernmost point of the North Island - it is in fact considerably further south than Nelson or Blenheim in the South Island.
