Pay As You Eat

My friend Emily, who I met here in Penang in January and then spent time with in Laos, came in to Georgetown after work and we went for some drinks at a few places before getting a taxi to a food market. Unfortunately due to Ramadan the market was mostly closed so we walked to Annalakshmi (Temple of Fine Arts), a non-profit Indian restaurant where you "eat to your heart's content, pay what your heart feels". The setting was great and the food delicious. We paid more than the food would have cost elsewhere but it was definitely worth it.

We got a taxi back in to the main area of Georgetown and met up with Gus and Bene for a few drinks until about 2am. Even at that time of night, sat outside with a cold beer, it was still hot enough that I was sweating! I was so pleased when I got back to my air-conditioned dorm.
