THREE THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW BEFORE TODAY

1. Bees that feed on raspberry flowers collect white pollen in their baskets (see extra).  Raspberry flowers are so unassuming, but the bees love them.  I counted four different types of bees busy among the canes this evening.  
2. There is a shortage of budgies for sale in Scotland.
3. Growing chives under apple trees protects the trees from scab.
