A Day of Two Walks

In the morning we took the car round to Tighnabruaich and walked from the village along the shore towards the boatyard at Rhubaan and further out along the shore path that forms part of the Cowal Way. We went as far as the waterfall in the Caladh plantation before turnng back and walking back to the village.

We left Maeve the Deerhound in the car and went to the Tighnabruaich Tearoom for lunch, then called in at the Tighnabruaich Gallery where we found the opening day of a new exhibition of paintings was happening and a glass of Prosecco was provided for sipping as the paintings were viewed.

We wanted to see the gallery as it is being rented as a going concern this year, the owners having decided to move away from the village. We have known the gallery for a many years in the hands of the current owners and also the previous owner from whom we bought a painting of Blair's Ferry by Jolomo. We later bought a second painting of Blair's Ferry viewed from further along the road, also by Jolomo, from the current gallery owners. We enjoyed the exhibition and the other works of art and crafts that are on display and hope the idea of renting the gallery is successful.

We took the car back round to Kames and had a walk South past Blair's Ferry along the single track road to Carry Farm from where you can look acros to Ettrick Bay on the Isle of Bute. By the time we walked back to the flat we knew we had done some walking and Maeve was quite tired out.
