Fremantle's oldest..Whalers Tunnel

This shot is taken from one of the oldest parts of Western Australia.

The Whaler's Tunnel was the first underground engineering project in Western Australia. After five months of excavation, the tunnel was completed in January 1838. Originally the tunnel was 3.6 metres high, and 64 metres long.

It runs underneath the first Gaol in the State, The Fremantle Round House.

This part of Fremntle is just pure "old Magic" and a blast from the past.

It is always a pleasure to walk the streets and imagine you are back there in the old days.

It is fun to walk through this tunnel and view the world in the opening at other end.
