Waterloo 2015 - French bivouacs
With an expected 200,000 visitors this weekend our lovely town of Waterloo has been in a frenzy to get everything ready. In April it looked like an impossible feat but somehow they have managed to pull it off and the place looks amazing and the organisation has been superb.
Today with my Dad and his friends we all visited the bivouacs. We were lucky enough to catch Napoleon inspecting his soldiers the day after the French attack. I didn't use the photo of Napoleon in the end as I preferred this blip. The two bivouac camps that we visited were fantastic and it gave us an insight into life 200 years ago.
This evening myself, hubby and Dad and pals attended the re-enactment of the allied counterattack which involved lots of cannon and rifle firing and a huge amount of smoke. The precision of the movements in the fields and the strategies employed were impressive.
Waterloo 2015 you have done yourselves and us proud.
